A STATEMENT READ BY MR. CHARLES ANYIAM-OSIGWE
PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER OF THE INTERNATIONAL
ACADEMY OF APPLIED ARTS AT THE INAUGURAL
PRESS CONFRENCE OF THE INTERNATIONAL
NETWORK FOR TELEVISION AND RADIO ADVANCEMENT ON 25TH MARCH 2010.


Ladies and gentlemen of the press, distinguished invitees, I am pleased to have the opportunity to address you on The International Academy of Applied Arts at this inaugural press conference of the International Network for Television and Radio Advancement (INTARA).

The International Academy of Applied Arts (IAAA) is positioning to be the lead Media Industry Skills Educational body providing high-level strategic vocational education for the creative industries to ensure future skills development and enhance workforce capacity in the creative industries.

IAAA is proud to associate with the aims and objectives of the International Network for Television and Radio Advancement and partner with her to provide the much-needed skills training through her e-learning courses and practical workshops.

IAAA is finalizing affiliation with African University College of Communication (AUCC), Ghana. So that students of IAAA will follow the curriculum of AUCC Diploma Courses in the E-Learning and be issued the AUCC Diploma on Completion of their Courses. The Diploma Courses IAAA Students will undertake using the curriculum of AUCC is: *TV Production * Journalism *Public Relations *Advertising * Mass Communications *English *Marketing Communications *Broadcasting *Public Relations *Screen and Radio Writing. This arrangement is in the short term. In the long term we intend to pursue and finalise accreditation for all the courses the Academy offers by the relevant Nigerian authorities.

The media industry is multifaceted and is capable of empowering a significant number of young adults with marketable industry skills sets through academic and practical training. It is of significant note that the creative industries as it relates to television and radio are in need of these skill sets. Acquiring these skills can lead to jobs such as:

IAAA FOUNDATION DIPLOMA COURSE.

IAAA is fine-tuning her online course delivery platform and plan to take off with our first set of students in September 2010 for the 2010 -2011 Academic Year with our Foundation Diploma Course. We expect to enroll a maximum of 500 students for this Foundation and Take Off year from across Nigeria in the first instance.

FOUNDATION DIPLOMA COURSE DESCRIPTION.

If you have an interest in working in the film industry, or an interest in new media, or in television or radio broadcasting but don't really know how it all works or where you could fit in, IAAA has a course created especially for you. IAAA is looking for students with strong creative portfolios to apply for this unique and intensely practical course.

*One-year full time
* E-Learning course with set time frame for completion of assignments and course works.
*Structured around a series of nine practical workshops - led by experienced industry practitioners
*Designed for creative students to explore their individual strengths and interests.
*Small collaborative groups
*Learn through practical application.
*Learn about the specialisations that make up all production activities across all platforms.
*Collaborate on projects
